MOORAH
MOORAH began as a one-man project of Count Hroozah, in late 2019. Other members joined the
band in the next period, and in this line-up the band prepared their debut full-length album
„Marnost nad marnost“.
Apocalyptic black metal in a different light, that's MOORAH. They will certainly be exciting
not only for fans of Burzum, Deafheaven, Darkthrone, Master's Hammer. In the music of MOORAH
you can hear the elements used by classic Czech and Norwegian black metal acts, as well as other
post-metal, post-punk and blackgaze techniques.
„Marnost nad marnost“ („Vanity over vanity“) is not a conceptual album, but all songs are united by
a common motive of faith and destiny of an individual in the apocalyptic world
(whatever you understand this term). Some of the Count Hroozah’s lyrics were previously published
in literary magazines and in his book of poetry.
The recording took place in the Bohemian forests, in an abandoned wine cellar and in a car during
the covid lock-down. Cheap instruments that were at hand (or made by themselves) were used.
Final mix and mastering was made with the task of purifying the sound, but preserving the authenticity
of the recording in all its raw nudity.
A new full-length album is scheduled for release this year. MOORAH says, “the songs go to greater
extremes in expression than the previous ones, they are more massive and more organic, yet some
of them sound naturally more hit”.
In Volyne at ETEF 2025 it will be really worth it!
